Wall Street Journal reporter Harriet Torry has been tapped to cover the Western U.S. economy for the paper.
She will be based in Houston.
Torry has been covering the U.S. economy with a focus on consumers from the Washington, D.C., bureau.
Previously she covered the Federal Reserve. Torry joined the Journal in Frankfurt in 2010 as a financial reporter, before moving to Berlin to cover the German government and economy during the eurozone sovereign debt crisis.
She has been at the paper for 14 years and previously worked at Deutsche Welle.
