Wall Street Journal reporter Josh Mitchell has moved to its London bureau to cover banking and global finance.
He previously spent 14 years in the Washington, D.C., bureau, writing about the U.S. economy and the student debt boom.
In 2016, the Education Writers Association named him the nation’s top higher-education beat reporter among major news outlets for his coverage on student debt. His book “The Debt Trap: How Student Loans Became a National Catastrophe” was named a best book of 2021 by NPR and the New York Post and was optioned by a film company.
He has appeared frequently on NPR and other networks.
Before the Journal, he wrote for the Baltimore Sun and the Palm Beach Post. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.
