WSJ’s Heeb receives Wiegold Prize

Gina Heeb

Gina Heeb has been selected for the Frederic Wiegold Prize for Business Journalism by the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.

Heeb is a rising star in business journalism who works on the banking team at The Wall Street Journal. She is receiving a prize that honors the late Frederic Wiegold, former Bloomberg Markets senior editor and an 18-year veteran of The Wall Street Journal.

Heeb has been covering everything from the ups and downs of the stock market, how banks are affected by the banking crisis, and American consumer finance.

Her reporting has also appeared in The New York Times, Bloomberg Law, NBC News, and CNBC.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
