Francis X. Rocca, who has been covering the Vatican for The Wall Street Journal, has left the publication as the paper has discontinued the beat.
He was also the global religion correspondent.
A native of Washington, D.C., he has written on a range of topics including European politics, higher education, arts and culture.
Rocca is a graduate of Harvard College and holds a master’s in liberal arts from St. John’s College (Annapolis) and a doctorate in Renaissance studies from Yale University.
He is the director of a documentary film, “Voices of Vatican II: Participants Recall the Council” (2015).
