Wall Street Journal reporter Shen Lu was among some layoffs.
Lu was a reporter covering the intersection of technology and society in China.
Previously, she worked for Protocol and CNN. Her writing has also appeared in the New York Times, Foreign Policy and Politico Magazine, among others. She has won awards from the Society of Publishers in Asia, the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing, the Asian American Journalists Association and the Society of Professional Journalists.
Lu is a graduate of the University of Iowa and Northwestern University.
