Dan Kelly, a news editor for page one at The Wall Street Journal, is retiring.

He received the 2007 Lawrence Minard Editor Award, named in memory of Forbes editor Laury Minard, from the Gerald Loeb Awards for his editing work.

“I have been blessed with a long and rewarding career at The Wall Street Journal. …No one could ask for more,” said Kelly.

Former Journal reporter Bob Davis wrote on Twitter: “Dan Kelly is the best. The model of an editor. Ask a zillion questions to make sure the story is accurate and that the writer knows what the hell he or she is talking about. And then make changes judiciously — only to improve the copy. Selfless and self-confident.”

Previously, Dan was a writer for Walter Cronkite on the “CBS Evening News.”
