WSJ names Raice its deputy bureau chief for Middle East and North Africa

Michael Amon, deputy bureau chief for the Middle East and North Africa at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following announcement on Wednesday:

All: I am excited to share the news that Shayndi Raice has been named deputy bureau chief for the Middle East and North Africa. After an action-packed run as Midwest bureau chief in Chicago, Shayndi will move to Tel Aviv, taking on a player-coach role reporting and editing news and enterprise. I’ve worked closely with Shayndi in London and in the U.S. and can attest to her passion for news, talents as a writer and editor, and virtue as a fellow human being.

Shayndi joined the Journal as a telecom reporter in 2010 after an internship at Dow Jones Newswires. She went on to cover tech companies including Facebook in San Francisco, Bank of America and Wells Fargo out of New York and European M&A out of London. In 2016, she moved to Chicago as a US news reporter covering the Midwest economy and took over as Midwest bureau chief in 2020. Since November, she’s also been acting as the interim law bureau chief.

She is a graduate of Yeshiva University and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a native of Monsey, N.Y. She is moving with her husband, Dov, and their two sons, Moshe and Zalman.
