WSJ names Kendall its law bureau chief

Brent Kendall

Emily Nelson, U.S. coverage chief at The Wall Street Journal, and Ashby Jones, U.S. deputy coverage chief, sent out the following announcement on Thursday:

We are excited to share the news that Brent Kendall has been named law bureau chief.

Brent’s prescient reporting, clear writing, and deep understanding of the world of law have made his coverage of the U.S. Supreme Court, antitrust law, and federal agencies stand out. Brent has reported on legal affairs in Washington, D.C., since 2003 for the Los Angeles Daily Journal, for Dow Jones and, most recently, for the Journal, which he joined in 2013.

Brent is a native of North Carolina. He has his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina and has a masters in journalism from American University.

We are excited to see him make the move into editing, and take the helm of an outstanding group of reporters. Brent has generously been a sounding board, guide and mentor to so many of us, and we’re thrilled he is taking on this leadership role.

Please join us in congratulating Brent on his new role and welcoming him to U.S. News. He starts later this month.
