The Wall Street Journal has hired Jessica Toonkel as its deputy media editor.
She will start Aug. 1.
Toonkel has been at The Information for the past four years as a media and telecom reporter in New York.
She previously spent seven years at Reuters, where she was the U.S. media correspondent from 2016 to 2018, breaking stories about media consolidation and about moves by Facebook and Amazon into digital media. Before the media beat, Jessica covered M&A and finance.
Before Reuters, she worked for Crain Communications, Institutional Investor and American Lawyer.
