WSJ hires six, promotes two

Wall Street Journal editor in chief Emma Tucker sent out the following on Tuesday:

I am pleased to announce the following appointments and vacancies:

Setareh Baig has joined WSJ. Magazine & Style News as a Publishing Editor, reporting to Sara Bosworth in New York. Previously, Setareh was an editing resident at The New York Times.

Joshua Broaden has joined the Journal as a Production Engineer reporting to Rob Lewis, Senior Director of Multi-Format Production in New York. Previously, Joshua was a freelance video producer, director, and cameraman working with clients including Food Network, Hudson Media, and Mark Seliger Studio.

Jarrard Cole has rejoined the Journal as a Supervising Producer, Live Journalism in New York reporting to Kim Last. Most recently, Jarrard was a Senior Editor at The New York Times. Before that he held various roles at the Journal making films, virtual reality experiences, interactives, and podcasts.

Michael Leberman has joined the Journal as a foreign desk manager reporting to Gordon Fairclough in London. Previously, Michael worked at BBC Studios as a Business Affairs Executive in London.

Colin Ng is now deputy chief Newswires editor for APAC. In the new job he will lead our large Newswires newsroom in Singapore, coordinating closely with the newswires’ two other newsrooms in Barcelona and New York. Colin is a Dow Jones veteran, holding several senior editing roles in Asia at both the Newswires and the Journal. In his new role, Colin will report to David Winning.

Victoria Rosselli has joined WSJ. Magazine & Style in New York as Digital Designer reporting to Design Director Tanya Moskowitz. Victoria has worked as designer and art director for numerous publications including Departures, Refinery 29 and most recently, New York Magazine.

Kayleen Schaefer has joined WSJ. Magazine & Style in New York as a News Editor reporting to Yael Kohen. Kayleen, an editor in the lifestyle space, was most recently a senior editor for several verticals at NYMag.com, including Curbed, The Cut, and Strategist.

David Winning is now chief Newswires editor for APAC, leading Dow Jones Newswires editors and reporters across the region. David will remain in Sydney and continue to lead the joint DJN and WSJ bureau in Australia, which he has run for more than a decade. Before his posting in Sydney, he was a DJN energy editor and, before that, he reported for the Newswires in China, based in Beijing. In his new role, he will report to Chip Cummins.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
