Wall Street Journal editor in chief Emma Tucker sent out the following on Thursday:
I am pleased to announce Damian Paletta is returning to The Wall Street Journal as Washington Coverage Chief.
After covering the fallout from the 2008 financial crisis and the White House during the Trump administration for the Journal, Damian moved to The Washington Post in 2017 where he served as economics editor and senior economics correspondent before being named Deputy Business Editor.
In his new role, Damian will build on the Journal’s election reporting, manage core stories out of the nation’s capital and collaborate with colleagues across the newsroom to produce world class, distinctive journalism. A key focus will be innovative new formats and creative approaches to better serve changing audiences in a digital world.
Damian said, “I am thrilled to lead the bureau during this pivotal time, as readers crave information about the politics and powers driving Washington. Between the presidential campaign and a world on edge, this is an incredible opportunity to drive journalism with urgency and precision.”
