The Wall Street Journal has hired Brian Patrick Byrne from Insider to be a platform editor for visual storytelling.
He will start next week.
Byrne is currently a distribution editor at Insider.
Prior to joining Insider, he built a social media following of over 50,000 by posting YouTube videos and Twitter threads about K-pop, or Korean pop music.
He was previously supervising producer at NowThis, where he helped to oversee production of the brand’s Snapchat and TikTok videos. Digiday interviewed him about NowThis’ unprecedented success on TikTok, and his work was featured on CNN.
