Wall Street Journal editor-in-chief Emma Tucker was recently re-upped in a multi-year deal by News Corp., reports Lachlan Cartwright of Breaker.
Cartwright reports, “Meanwhile, Publisher and CEO of Dow Jones, the ‘No Drama Dutchman’ Almar Latour, is in the midst of re-negotiating his own contract with News Corp CEO Robert Thomson. If a deal isn’t eventually inked, Thomson, ever the sly fox, has former Bloomberg Media CEO M. Scott Havens, Dow Jones’ first Chief Growth Officer waiting in the wings.
“For Tucker, it’s an opportunity to continue WSJ’s reporting hot streak, while also offering a fresh start after the in-house controversies of 2025. This includes the now ex-financial editor, Marie Beaudette’s abrupt departure. Soon after, we reported about a ‘very close working relationship’ with ex-deputy editor Charles Forelle, who also left the paper.
“It has been a week of upheaval at the Journal. After 42-years the beloved Mike Miller, Senior Editor, Features and WSJ Weekend, is out. As is 15-year veteran Gary Rosen, who oversaw the Journal’s Weekend Review section along with Dale Hrabi, the Editor of the WSJ’s Off Duty section. Features will now be the fiefdom of Tucker favorite Sarah Ball, who edits the WSJ magazine.”
