WSJ chief enterprise editor Rose is departing

Matthew Rose

Wall Street Journal editor in chief Emma Tucker send out the following announcement on Wednesday:

I’m writing to share the news that Matthew Rose is leaving The Wall Street Journal.

Following an impressive career as a reporter, Matthew held a number of important jobs including an editor on Page One, deputy Washington bureau chief and most recently Chief Enterprise Editor.

Matthew has been a force for ambitious, quality long-form journalism across coverage areas and formats, helping guide some of the Journal’s biggest stories, including the prize-winning Stormy Daniels coverage, the Facebook Files and the Capital Assets series. As enterprise editor, he took a print-focused desk and turned it into a nimble and growing digital operation.

I would like to thank Matthew for his considerable service to the Journal and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.

He started his career as a news assistant in London, writing spot news and A-heds about stinky plants, before progressing to the technology beat, where he helped uncover more than one corporate scandal, and then the media beat in New York, where he wrote about the rise and fall of the magazine business and profiled some of its most colorful protagonists.
