The Wall Street Journal has appointed Marie Beaudette as finance coverage chief and has expanded Larry Rout’s role to obituaries editor.
In her new role, Beaudette will be responsible for the Journal’s coverage of financial news and manage the team of more than 80 reporters and editors that produces it. Previously, she worked as a news editor, assistant managing editor and banking editor.
She also served as an assistant managing editor at Dow Jones. Beaudette graduated from the University of Maryland. Be sure to congratulate Beaudette on Twitter.
Rout also serves as editor of special projects.
“Larry will bring greater depth, finer writing and more color to our obituaries working with staff to harness the huge expertise, knowledge and storytelling talent of the WSJ,” wrote editor-in-chief Emma Tucker.
He joined the Journal’s Chicago bureau, where he introduced the paper’s first real-estate column. He also opened the Mexico City bureau and was a reporter and editor in New York.
