Wired executive editor Brian Barrett shared with staff this morning:
Hi all,I’m thrilled to share that Kate Taylor will be joining WIRED as a senior writer on the business desk.
If you don’t know Kate already, you’re likely familiar with her work as an investigative journalist. At Business Insider, she wrote about everything from the collapse of Subway to behind-the-scenes drama at America’s Next Top Model. Her exposé on TV producer Dan Schneider was the foundation for the blockbuster HBO docuseries “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.” (She served as an executive producer on the show and was nominated for an Emmy.) She also served as a consultant for HBO’s “Brandy Melville & the Cult of Fast Fashion,” another documentary based heavily on her reporting.
More recently, Kate just finished up her MBA at Columbia University, which she pursued to better understand the companies she covers.
At WIRED, Kate will be covering the future of work, and how AI is impacting the full spectrum of employment. (You don’t need me to tell you how important a beat this is and will continue to be.) She’ll tell those stories through a mix of news hits and the deeper investigative features that have been her trademark.
Kate starts on July 1 out of the New York office. Please join me in welcoming her to WIRED!
