Wired hires O’Keeffe as creative web developer

Sam O’Keeffe

Wired creative director Alyssa Walker sent out the following on Monday:

Hi all,

I’m so excited to announce that Sam O’Keeffe is joining WIRED on Monday, April 20, as our Creative Web Developer!

We’re thrilled to have Sam on board for many reasons. His arrival marks a real shift in how WIRED can show up online across packages, investigations, and feature storytelling. It’s an exciting moment to take our storytelling to new heights, and Sam feels like the perfect person to step into this. His enthusiasm and perspective align squarely with the WIRED of today.

Sam has spent years as a freelance developer and has worked across environmental, healthcare, and tech spaces. But I really knew Sam was meant for WIRED when I saw one of his edit test submissions—he wasn’t afraid to get a little weird and have fun with it.

Originally from Wexford, Ireland, Sam has recently lived in Vancouver before moving to London. Outside of work, he loves traveling and being outdoors (he’s been in Buenos Aires these past few weeks), and he organizes storytelling events, working closely with Seanchoíche in a range of roles from host to photographer.

I’ll embarrass him for a second and share what he said when he got the job: “I’ve never felt this aligned with a job or company before. I feel it’s the most meaningful work I’ll have done to date… I’m buzzing!!”

Join me in welcoming Sam to the team!
