Washington Post hires Wagner as a media reporter

Laura Wagner

Washington Post features editor Ben Williams and deputy features editor Hank Stuever sent out the following:

We’re thrilled to announce that Laura Wagner is joining The Washington Post as a media reporter.

Laura was most recently a staff writer at Defector, where she covered media, sports and labor in stories such as her report on the corporate takeover of Football Outsiders.

Prior to that, she was a senior staff writer at Vice, where she reported on prominent media figures and institutions, including Norm Pearlstine’s tenure at the Los Angeles Times and the New Yorker’s suspension of Jeffrey Toobin. Before that, Laura covered sports and sports media at Deadspin. She has also written for Slate and NPR, and her work has been published by Columbia Journalism Review.

In her new role, Laura will cover the rapidly changing digital media industry.

Laura earned a B.A. in government from Georgetown University, with minors in journalism and Spanish. She is moving with her family to New York, where she will be based. In her free time, she enjoys playing spikeball in the park.

Laura starts on June 26. Please join us in welcoming her to The Post.
