Washington Post hires Quartz’s Shendruck

Amanda Shendruk

The Washington Post opinions section has hired Amanda Shendruk from Quartz to be a graphics reporter and developer.

At Quarts, Shendruk was on the Things team, which is chiefly responsible for Quartz’s data-driven, visual, interactive and experimental journalism.

She also worked at the Council on Foreign Relations, where she was its first data-visualization designer. There she worked with journalists and researchers to enhance their work with graphics and visualization, and also reported and published her own stories and analyses. Prior to CFR, she worked at Maclean’s Magazine in Toronto and the Guardian in London in editorial roles.

She won a SABEW award for highlighting colorism in the fashion and beauty industries.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
