Sarah Frier, managing editor for big tech, artificial intelligence and VC/startups coverage at Bloomberg, sent out the following:
Hi all,I am very happy to announce that we are promoting Kurt Wagner to Big Tech team leader, overseeing the reporters who cover Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta and more. In more than seven years at Bloomberg, Kurt has proven his mettle with some of our biggest stories, including Meta’s pivot to AI, TikTok’s sale process and, of course, Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover (the topic of his book, Battle for the Bird, acclaimed as “riveting” by Publishers Weekly). For the last two years, Kurt has run our social media coverage, producing market-moving scoops and important investigations, like our series on how AI has enabled child predators. Kurt is talented across platforms, he’s a star collaborator and I can’t wait for more reporters to benefit from his guidance.Kurt will remain in Denver and report to me. He’ll take on some of his new responsibilities immediately, before going on parental leave in August. Meanwhile, Alexandra Levine, who has distinguished herself in coverage of TikTok and child safety, will start to also cover Meta, joining Riley Griffin on the beat.Congratulations, Kurt!!Sarah Frier
