Variety has hired journalist Marlow Stern as chief correspondent where he will focus on covering the film industry.
William Earl of Variety writes, “In his new role, which begins today, Stern will write about Hollywood studios and talent agencies, as well as profile leading artists and filmmakers. Stern, who will be based in New York City, will report to Brent Lang, Variety’s executive editor.
“‘Marlow joins Variety as we are increasing our investment in longform, investigative reporting,’ said Ramin Setoodeh, Variety’s co-editor in chief and co-president. “He is a multi-platform journalist who excels at print, digital, video and audio storytelling. We look forward to publishing his many exclusives about the business of Hollywood.”
“‘I am beyond thrilled to be joining the stellar team over at Variety,’ Stern said. ‘As a film geek who spent childhood weekends renting videos from the local library to make my way through the AFI movie lists, ran a movie club, and has amassed an embarrassingly large Criterion collection, it is a dream come true. I can’t wait to get to work.'”
