Heather Timmons

Reuters learning editor Stephen Farrell sent out the following on Monday:

Dear All,

We are delighted to announce that Heather Timmons is joining the Live Pages team as Live Pages Editor, Americas.

This new role is part of our plan to expand the Live page, which launched in March 2024 and has quickly become a crucial part of our digital offering on the mobile app and reuters.com, as well as on LSEG’s Workspace. (You can see our live coverage of politics, climate, business and more here: https://lnkd.in/eBaZrKTm)

Live will benefit hugely from Heather’s experience as White House editor for Reuters since January 2021, during which time she led the team covering President Biden’s administration. She was also a 2024 election editor spearheading coverage of the Biden-then-Harris campaign and working closely with the Live team. Heather also brings past experience as the DC economics editor during the first Trump administration, COVID-19 and the aftermath of the police killing of George Floyd.

Before joining Reuters, Heather built an Asia bureau for Atlantic Media’s Quartz in Hong Kong, and co-created The New York Times’ India live page. She also covered finance and travel in Europe for the NYT. Heather’s first daily journalism job was covering a then-obscure corner of the finance industry called subprime lending for The American Banker, back in the 1990s. She lives on Capitol Hill with her husband Paul, and a teenage son who is an avid drummer.

Heather will be based in Washington and report to Stephen.
