Katie Prescott has been hired as technology business editor of The Times of London, and will start this June.
Reporting to Times business editor Richard Fletcher, Prescott will be responsible for covering business technology news and will have a weekly column in the business section.
Prescott has spent a decade of reporting for the BBC. Her most recent roles include business presenter and producer for Radio 4’s Today program and business correspondent across BBC News on TV, radio and online.
During her time at the BBC, she has reported on a wide range of topics from the European debt crisis to the business changes brought by the Covid-19 pandemic and new technology.
“I am delighted to be joining the prestigious Times business desk and covering what I think is the most exciting patch in journalism, crossing every sector with an impact on all of our lives,” said Prescott in a statement. “The landscape of tech and media is changing fast and I’m looking forward to bringing all of the key stories to readers, listeners and viewers across Times platforms.”
