The Logic managing editor Jordan Timm and executive editor April Fong sent out the following announcement:
We are delighted to welcome Charlie Gillis to The Logic as deputy managing editor. Charlie joins us from Maclean’s, where he was managing editor, national, handling everything from hard-news investigations and long-form features to playful front-of-book pieces and newsletters.
Before moving into editing Charlie was a national correspondent, reporting on subjects from federal politics to the Olympics. He has also been a reporter and feature writer for the National Post, Edmonton Journal, Canadian Press and the Telegraph-Journal of New Brunswick. He has won National Magazine Awards as both a writer and an editor, and in 2016 was co-winner of a Canadian Association of Journalists award. He will join us on July 18, and report to Jordan.
We are also thrilled to welcome Sumaiya Kamani as digital producer. Sumaiya joins us from OneEleven, where she was digital community manager, overseeing audience growth and engagement for its website, newsletters and social media accounts. She previously worked as a sub-editor at The Express Tribune in Pakistan, reporting for its business section, packaging both print and digital content and reviewing web analytics.
Reporting to April, Sumaiya will play a key role in bridging the audience development worlds of the business and editorial teams. She will work closely with her newsroom colleagues, along with Amanda Roth and Justine Lee, to strengthen how readers experience our outstanding journalism. She will join us on July 4.
As we celebrate our fourth anniversary, we couldn’t be more excited for where we’re heading.
Please join us in welcoming Sumaiya and Charlie to our team.
