The Information taps Mascarenhas to cover VC and startups

The Information has hired Natasha Mascarenhas to cover venture capital and startups.

She will start next month.

Mascarenhas has been covering venture capital and startups, fintech and how money blends with culture, economic empowerment and access, for TechCrunch.

She has been with TechCrunch since March 2020. She previously worked at Crunchbase covering venture capital and startups. Previously, she was a business reporting intern for the San Francisco Chronicle and SFGATE. Before that, she was with Boston Globe Media working as an audience engagement intern and business desk intern.

She also served as an editorial intern at BostInno and held the posts of business editor and collegiate correspondent at The Daily Free Press and USA Today, respectively.

Mascarenhas has a degree in journalism from Boston University.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
