The Block hires Baydakova as senior policy reporter

Anna Baydakova

Cryptocurrency news site The Block has hired Anna Baydakova as senior policy reporter and assistant editor.

She previously was at CoinDesk, writing about blockchain projects and regulation with a special focus on Eastern Europe and Russia. She is especially excited about stories on privacy, cybercrime, sanctions policies and censorship resistance of decentralized technologies.

She joined CoinDesk after years of writing for various Russian media, including the leading political outlet Novaya Gazeta.

Baydakova graduated from the Saint Petersburg State University and the Higher School of Economics in Russia and got her Master’s degree at Columbia Journalism School in New York City.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
