Stinson, assistant per finance editor, laid off at Washington Post

Rivan Stinson, assistant personal finance editor at The Washington Post, was among the layoffs on Wednesday.

She was working legendary personal finance columnist Michelle Singletary.

Stinson previously worked at Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, where she worked for more than six years, first as a fact-checker and then as a staff writer for its magazine covering credit, banking, insurance and other personal finance topics.

She started her career as a freelance fact-checker and grammar expert working for an independent book publisher and a local monthly magazine in Michigan.

Stinson graduated from the University of Michigan in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in English.
