The Albuquerque Journal has named Andy Smith as interim business editor.
Matthew Narvaiz of The Journal writes, “Smith, who most recently served as the Journal’s assistant editorial page editor, assumes his new role Monday. He replaces Gabrielle Porter, who moved into a new position with the Journal at the beginning of the year.
“Raised in Farmington, Smith began his career in journalism in 1991 when he covered courts and education for the Rio Grande Sun in Española. He had stints at other newspapers in Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina and Colorado.
“A graduate of New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Smith said he is excited to start in his new role and engage with business leaders in Albuquerque and across the state.”
