Slate has hired Heather Tal Murphy from the New York Times to write about how technology is shaping the world.
She has been on the travel team at the Times as a reporter. Previously, she worked on the Express desk as a general assignment reporter.
Murphy has also worked as a senior staff editor on the international desk, digital deputy editor on the science desk, and reporter for science and health at The Times. She was also a photo editor/photo blogger at Slate Magazine.
She has also worked at NPR and has freelanced for Swindle Magazine, the L.A. Times, and Variety.
She was also a breaking news producer/home page editor at washingtonpost.com.
She has also reported and edited for The Santiago Times.
Murphy is a graduate of Georgetown University.
