Singer departs Hartford Courant for Industry Dive

Stephen Singer

Hartford Courant business reporter Stephen Singer has left to become an editor for Industry Dive’s Utility Dive publication.

He had been at the Courant since December 2015 and had covered manufacturing, high tech and other business beats.

Singer previously spent more than 17 years at the Associated Press in Charleston, West Virginia, and in Hartford. He was also a state capitol reporter for The Daily Mail in Charleston.

Singer holds a bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University and a master’s degree from the University of Maryland.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
