Silver named chief business editor for People Inc.

Investopedia editor in chief Caleb Silver has been promoted by People Inc. to be its chief business editor.

He will remain in his Investopedia role.

People Inc. — formerly Dotdash Meredith — is the largest digital and print publisher in America. Its publications include People, Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure, Better Homes & Gardens, Verywell, Allrecipes, Real Simple, Investopedia, and Southern Living.

Silver began his career producing wildlife documentaries in South America and the American southwest. His career in business news began at Bloomberg, where he worked as a senior television producer and was nominated for a 2003 Emmy Award.

He then joined CNN, serving as a senior producer for “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” as well as the executive producer of CNNMoney.com. He and his team at CNNMoney were nominated for an Emmy Award for New Approaches to Business & Financial Reporting. He then returned to CNN as the director of U.S. business news from 2011-2014.

Silver left CNN in 2014 to form Frog Pond Productions, a documentary production and digital media consulting company, which produced TV features and documentaries for CNN, Al-Jazeera, and PBS, among others.

He joined Investopedia in January 2016 as the vice president of content and editor-in-chief. He also has served as president of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing.
