The Silicon Valley Business Journal has hired Gary Boulanger as its next editor-in-chief, replacing J. Jennings Moss.

Suzanne Stevens, editor of the sister Portland Business Journal, writes, “His journalism credentials include working as a senior editor for Cycle World magazine, the U.S. editor of the British cycling publication Future and editor-in-chief of Rotating Mass Media.

“So why the pivot into business journalism?

“‘If one is looking to get into local journalism, and you happen to live in Silicon Valley, it broadens beyond what we know as local journalism in years past,’ Boulanger said. ‘The fact that you have technology that emanates around the world in the snap of the fingers is a big deal. The fact that small businesses are thriving because we have people moving here from all over the world, to do business, to work for a business, to start businesses, excites me to no end.’

“Boulanger earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He moved to California in 2007.”
