Bloomberg News reporter Jill Shah is moving to the leveraged finance team.
She will be specifically focused on the $1 trillion leveraged loan market, where private equity titans like Apollo and Blackstone turn to finance their buyouts — and riskier companies go to borrow.
She has been in the news organization’s rotation program on several different desks for the past year.
Shah is a former 2020 features intern at the Los Angeles Times. She was the inaugural Jack Rosenthal Scholar at the CUNY Newmark School of Journalism in New York City.
She moved to the United States when she was 9 from Mumbai, India. In addition to English, she speaks Gujarati, and speaks, reads and writes Hindi fluently. She completed her bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology with honors from Northwestern University.
Before becoming a journalist, she worked for six years in technology, international development and global health.
