The San Francisco Standard has hired Emily Shugerman to cover wealth and power.
She will start next week.
Shugerman previously pioneered the role of gender reporter for The Daily Beast and covered breaking news and U.S. politics for The Independent. She also freelanced for outlets including TheStandard and New York Magazine’s The Cut.
She is a recipient of the Newswomen’s Club of New York’s Front Page Award and a finalist for the 2021 Livingston Award.
Shugerman is a graduate of Occidental College.
