Rachyl Jones

San Francisco Standard editor in chief Kevin Delaney sent out the following on Monday:

I’m excited to share that Rachyl Jones is joining The Standard as a technology reporter. Rachyl has been a tech reporter for Semafor, where she’s distinguished herself with her perceptive, dogged coverage of AI companies and tech trends.

“She’s just so naturally curious,” one of Rachyl’s editors told me. “She just asks people great questions. She’ll call like 100 people in one company to find out what’s going on.” For one Semafor story, she spoke with 24 former employees of a tech company and for a Fortune investigation into Chinese AVs driving around California, she interviewed several dozen experts. Prior to Semafor, Rachyl reported for Fortune and Observer. She has a master’s in journalism from Columbia University.

At The Standard, Rachyl will focus on SF’s AI firms, including their employees, who can shed exclusive insights on the inner lives of these powerful firms and their increasing influence in the city and our world.

Rachyl, who is moving to SF from NYC, will start on Aug. 17 and work full-time from our SF office. She will join our tech team and report to tech editor Heather Kelly.

Please join me in welcoming her.
