Senior reporter Jake Lahut has left Wired after an encounter with Human Resources, reports Max Tami of Semafor.
Lahut joined in May as a senior writer on the politics desk.
In this role, he covered the Trump White House, particularly the intersection of two distinct groups working to shape its policies: Silicon Valley billionaires and populist MAGA diehards.
He’ll also wrote the “Politics Lab” newsletter, refocusing it around scoops and exclusive reporting from inside and around the Trump administration.
As a freelance contributor to Wired, last fall he broke the news of the mistreatment of canvassers by Elon Musk’s America PAC for us, and more recently detailed Stephen and Katie Miller’s role in shepherding Musk through DC.
He also covered the 2024 presidential campaign and 2022 midterms for the Daily Beast, where he landed a number of impactful scoops.
