Clay Chandler
Semafor has hired Clay Chandler from Fortune magazine to oversee its live journalism programs in the Asia-Pacific region and to help launch a new Asia product.
From his base in Hong Kong, Chandler has overseen Fortune’s editorial operations and conference strategy in the region. He serves as a chair or co-chair for some of Fortune’s most prestigious business events including the Fortune Global Forum, the Fortune Innovation Forum, Brainstorm AI Singapore, and Brainstorm Design.
He returned to Fortune in 2017 following a six-year stint at McKinsey & Co., where he led a series of high-profile research and publishing projects. He served previously as Fortune’s Asia editor from 2002 to 2008.
Prior to joining Fortune, Chandler covered business, technology, and economic policy in the U.S. and Asia as a senior staff writer for the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post.
