Seal joins WSJ’s real-time news desk

Dean Seal has joined The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires as a reporter on the real-time news desk in New York.

He previously wrote about financial regulation, litigation and government enforcement as a senior reporter for Law360.

Before that, he was a staff writer at The Daily Progress, the daily newspaper for Charlottesville, Va., where he covered crime, social justice and business affairs.

A native of Richmond, Va., he has a B.S. in finance from Virginia Tech and served as news editor of the Collegiate Times, the university’s student-run newspaper.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
