Steven Scherer, former Ottawa bureau chief at Reuters, has left the news organization and is looking for a new opportunity.
He has a permanent permit to work in Italy and most of the European Union. As a foreign correspondent, he covered general news, politics and economics for a quarter of a century, always for an international audience.
Scherer was a top reporter in Rome for Bloomberg and Reuters for two decades and was promoted to Ottawa bureau chief and chief Canada correspondent by Reuters.
He wants to use his skills as a veteran journalist in media relations for a company or institution, or working on journalism “adjacent” projects like curating content for think tanks or research universities.
Scherer holds a bachelor’s degree from Wabash College and a master’s degree from Northwestern University.
