The Guardian has hired Rachel Savage as its South Africa correspondent.
She has been the Africa senior markets correspondent for Reuters covering African markets and finance since 2022.
Savage previously was at Thomson Reuters Foundation, where she was a deputy editor and reporter. She has also worked freelance. Savage has also worked as East Africa correspondent and then as West Africa correspondent at The Economist.
She was also a web reporter and web editor at Management Today. She has also interned at the Financial Times and Bloomberg.
Savage is a University of Oxford graduate.
