Bloomberg News editors John J. Edwards III and Crayton Harrison sent out the following on Friday:
We’re pleased to announce that Olivia Rockeman is moving from the US economy beat to the consumer team, covering retailers including Home Depot, Lowe’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Victoria’s Secret, and Levi’s, as well as smaller brands like Warby Parker and Allbirds. In addition to company news and earnings coverage, Olivia will focus on corporate sustainability within the retail and apparel space. She’ll report on how and where clothes are produced, the environmental and economic consequences associated with modern apparel production, and the emerging solutions within sustainable fashion. She’ll also use her background covering the economy to dive into broader labor and supply-chain issues for retailers, including unionization, worker pay and re-shoring.
This is a return to the consumer beat for Olivia, as she interned on the team in the summer of 2019. She was then a rotational reporter before joining the economy team in June 2020. Outside of Bloomberg, Olivia is a yoga teacher and also enjoys reading, creative projects including sewing and exploring NYC. She’s originally from San Diego and studied economics at the University of California, Davis. She’ll start with Consumer on Sept. 19. Please join us in welcoming her.
