Reuters has appointed Julia Symmes Cobb as its Andean bureau chief.
Recently, Cobb was a senior correspondent heading the Bogota bureau.
Before that, she was a Reuters stringer and joined the staff as a correspondent in 2017, a role in which she produced stories across Columbia. As an editorial trainee, she contributed to various parts of the Reuters file during stints in Bogota, Colombia and Mexico City, Mexico.
She was a stringer at The Washington Post and worked freelance.
Cobb graduated from the University of Edinburgh.
