Reuters has hired Kavya Balaraman to be an editor on the commodities and energy team.
She has been freelancing since November 2022, when she left Utility Dive.
She joined Industry Dive in 2019 and previously had been at Energy NewsData reporting on energy policy and utility regulation, and tracking key stories that reflect California’s push toward its ambitious clean energy targets. She covered a wide-ranging beat that included Pacific Gas & Electric and the California Public Utilities Commission.
Balaraman also worked at E&E News as a reporting fellow.
She holds a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
