Itika Sharma Punit and Cengiz Yar have been promoted to deputy editors at Rest of World.
They will start their new roles on Jan. 1, 2023.
Since joining Rest of World as South Asia editor last year, Punit has shaped coverage from one of the most exciting regions in the world. In addition to developing core coverage areas from India, Punit also built relationships with freelancers in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Nepal who produce compelling stories from across the region.
Yar started at Rest of World before the publication’s launch in 2020 and became our full-time photo editor later that year. Since then, he has been a steadfast force in establishing the visual identity of Rest of World’s journalism and managing our day-to-day operations.
