Daniel Gilbert, who has been covering the business of medicine, was laid off Wednesday at The Washington Post.
He joined the paper in 2022.
“It’s hard to abruptly halt reporting stories that I am burning to tell,” he wrote on LinkedIn. “I will be considering my options.”
Gilbert previously spent seven years as an investigative reporter for the Seattle Times, and before that covered business for the Wall Street Journal in Houston. As a staff writer for the Bristol Herald Courier in Bristol, Va., his reporting on Virginia’s mismanagement of natural-gas royalties received the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.
Gilbert is a University of Chicago graduarte.
