Politico Congress executive producer Zachary Warmbrodt, Congressional policy editor Emma Dumain and senior Congressional editor Mike DeBonis sent out the following:

We’re excited to announce that Chris Marquette is joining the Congress team as a reporter covering the Oversight, Judiciary and Ethics Committees.

This role is vital for our newsroom as we deepen POLITICO’s coverage of key congressional committees and the personalities around them.

Chris will be responsible for owning coverage of House and Senate committees that sit at the center of some of the biggest political, legal and accountability fights on Capitol Hill. From high-stakes investigations and internal ethics conflicts to the vetting of nominees for the Supreme Court and the Justice Department, this beat encompasses critical POLITICO story lines for our core Washington audience and premium subscribers.

Chris’s work will appear across our platforms, including scoops and quick-turn analysis for Pro briefs, Inside Congress Live blog posts and SMS; enterprise for the homepage and daily narration in the Inside Congress newsletter.

Chris is well-positioned to take on this challenge. As a POLITICO transportation reporter, he has built a strong reputation for exclusive reporting, deep sourcing and an ability to navigate complex policy and political fights. During his previous stint at Roll Call, he broke a series of juicy, must-read stories about dysfunction inside the Capitol Police.

We’re thrilled to bring Chris’s energy, curiosity and reporting chops to the Congress team. Please join us in congratulating him on this exciting new chapter.
