Politico has promoted Julia Marsh to editorial director for California and Debra Kahn to California policy editor.
Marsh joined Politico in January 2022 as New York editor. Before that, she was at the New York Post, where she has worked for more than 10 years. She contributed to The Christian Science Monitor and was an associate editor at The Huffington Post. Marsh has a bachelor’s degree from Colorado College and a master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Be sure to congratulate Marsh on Twitter.
In her new role, Kahn will focus on the California Climate newsletter, which will launch next month and also work with reporters across California policy coverage. Recently, she served as deputy sustainability editor. Before that, she was California bureau chief. She joined in January 2019 as a reporter covering California environment and transportation policy. She worked at E&E Publishing, LLC for 13 years and was a news editor at U.S. News & World Report.
