Greg Barr, editor in chief of Phoenix Business Journal, plans to retire in December after 20 years with American City Business Journals, reports Paul Thompson of the Business Journal.

Thompson writes, “Barr was hired as PBJ’s editor in 2018. The role followed previous stops as a managing editor with both Austin Business Journal and Houston Business Journal, where he began with ACBJ as a hybrid editor-writer, churning out stories for the paper’s fledgling online coverage and its weekly print edition. Barr also held the banking and public companies beat at HBJ.

“It should come as no surprise that Barr aims to stay busy post-retirement. He’s always maintained a robust social calendar, and has shown no obvious degradation to his herculean work ethic as retirement looms.

“The self-professed ‘news junkie’ knows he’ll miss the fast-paced environment of the newsroom.”
