Perez-Castells joins Philly Inquirer biz desk as reporter

Ariana Perez-Castells has joined the Philadelphia Inquirer business news desk as a general assignment reporter.

She has been a reporter with The Wall Street Journal’s health and science team in New York and part of the winter/spring 2023 newsroom intern class.

She was a 2022 summer reporting fellow at the Texas Tribune, covering breaking news. Her writing has appeared in Univision, City Limits, the Texas Tribune, and the Bushwick Daily.

She holds a master’s degree in bilingual journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York and a bachelor’s degree in written arts and human rights from Bard College.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
