Lydia Tomkiw

Pensions & Investments editor in chief Jennifer Ablan sent out the following on Tuesday:

Dear all,

We are thrilled to announce that Lydia Tomkiw will join Pensions & Investments as a senior reporter covering the hedge fund industry and the growing private credit market. Tomkiw, who will start on March 4 in P&I’s New York offices, was previously senior reporter at FundFire, a Financial Times publication that covers asset management. Tomkiw will be reporting to Erin Arvedlund, P&I’s Enterprise Editor.

With over 10 years of journalism experience, Tomkiw recently wrote in-depth stories on hedge fund trends, strategies, performance, regulation, and investors, and edited private equity and real assets coverage and opinion pieces at FundFire. Tomkiw’s work covering finance, economics, international, and domestic news has also appeared in numerous publications including the Financial Times, The Christian Science Monitor, Foreign Policy, PRX’s The World, Slate, International Business Times, and the Nieman Journalism Lab at Harvard.

“I’m excited to welcome Lydia to the P&I newsroom as we expand our coverage of hedge funds and private credit. She will be working closely with our award-winning team of reporters and editors and will also be responsible for overseeing P&I’s Largest Hedge Fund Managers,” said Jennifer Ablan, editor in chief and chief content officer of Pensions & Investments.

Tomkiw has also reported on international affairs, politics, business, and culture. She has reported from Ukraine, Poland, Indonesia, and the U.S.

She holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Lydia!
